Dr. Josi L. Herren is a board-certified Interventional Radiologist bringing advanced expertise in minimally invasive, image-guided therapies to IR Centers at Silver Spring. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by a surgical internship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Herren went on to complete her Integrated Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she distinguished herself with honors in Research, Scholarship, Clinical Service, and Education, and served as Chief Resident. She also pursued a Master of Clinical and Translational Research at the University of Illinois.

Dr. Herren currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Interventional Radiology at the University of Maryland, where her practice spans a wide array of therapies, including interventional oncology, treatment of portal hypertension, cholangioscopy and complex hepatobiliary interventions, pulmonary embolism response (PERT), uterine fibroid embolization and women’s health, and pediatric procedures such as treatment of osteoid osteomas. She has played a key role in process improvement initiatives, driving dramatic gains in operating room efficiency, and has served as M&M Faculty Conference Coordinator.

She has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters on topics including portal hypertension, liver transplant complications, pericardial drainage, nephrostomy, and prostate artery embolization. Dr. Herren has been invited to present her work at national and international meetings, receiving recognition for her contributions to clinical innovation and education. Her leadership has extended to serving as Pediatric Section Leader within the Society of Interventional Radiology, as well as active roles on multiple quality and safety committees.
