Dr. Haokang Wei
Dr. Haokang Wei is a fellowship-trained interventional radiologist at IR Centers in New Jersey. He completed his Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he also served on the Radiation Safety Committee and Resident Wellness Committee. His training encompassed advanced minimally invasive, image-guided therapies across vascular, oncologic, and musculoskeletal domains.
Dr. Wei earned his Doctor of Medicine from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and previously completed a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at DeSales University.
Before entering medical school, he spent several years practicing as a Physician Assistant in emergency medicine, trauma surgery, and urgent care—providing him with extensive experience managing high-acuity patients and performing a wide range of procedures.
His clinical expertise includes prostate artery embolization (PAE), genicular artery embolization (GAE), uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), musculoskeletal embolization, organ-directed embolization therapies, percutaneous ablation, venous and arterial interventions, dialysis access management, and image-guided biopsy and drainage.
Dr. Wei has authored and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations, including work featured in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology and at national meetings such as ISET, RSNA, and the Society of Interventional Oncology. His academic interests include embolization science, device safety, vertebral augmentation, and clinical outcomes research.
Dr. Wei is committed to delivering patient-centered, minimally invasive treatment options that improve recovery, reduce morbidity, and expand access to advanced interventional care. His collaborative approach and strong clinical foundation align closely with IR Centers’ national mission of supporting partner practices through high-quality, evidence-based outpatient IR services.
